
FEASSSA Games: Hockey defending champions Musingu, St Joseph’s Kitale eye first wins on day three

Defending hockey champions Musingu High School and St Joseph’s Girls Kitale will be out to register their first victories when they take to the turf on the second day of the Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSSA) Games in Kakamega on Saturday, 16 August.
Musingu, who lost in their opening match against Kakungulu, face Uganda’s Ntare School in a must-win encounter in the boys’ category, while St Joseph’s Kitale girls take on Uganda’s St Mary’s Namagunga in a high-stakes clash after a drawing with Ng'iya Girls in the start to their title defence.

In other girls’ hockey fixtures, Ng’iya Girls will play Bweranyangi, Kakungulu Memorial face Tigoi Girls, and Mwiki Secondary clash with Sacred Heart SS Mushanga.
Boys’ hockey action will see St Anthony’s Kitale battle Kakungulu Memorial, MPesa Academy meet Mbarara High, and St Charles Lwanga square off with Kyadondo SS Matugga.
Rugby also takes centre stage with a packed fixture list.
In the 7s format, Gitisi face Mbarara, Bungoma High take on Koyonzo, and St Mary’s College Kisubi open their campaign against Makerere College, before returning later to play Gitisi.
Other games will see St Peter’s Mumias meet London College, Mbarara High face Bungoma, Makerere College take on St Peter’s Mumias, and London College Maya meet Friends School Bwake.
In the 15s category, All Saints Embu open against Busoga College, Namilyango College meet Jinja Secondary, and Vihiga High face Upper Hill School.
Kisii School are also in action against All Saints Embu, while Kings College Buddo meet Busoga College and Namilyango College square off with Upper Hill.
Girls’ rugby 7s will have St Joseph’s Girls Kitale playing St Theresa’s Kithimu, Paul Harris meeting Kinale, and Jinja Secondary taking on Nkoma.
Handball promises another day of fierce competition. In the boys’ fixtures, Kamito face Highway, Ivory Coast meet Gombe SS, Bombo Army battle ES Kigoma, Adegi play St Luke’s Kimilili, and Manyatta meet Kilombero. For the girls, Dagoretti Mixed face St Joseph’s Kitale, Gombe Secondary play Mbogo High, Moi Girls Kamusinga take on Kadika Girls, Kawanda clash with Doingonya, and ES Nyamgabe meet Maweni Secondary.
Netball will see Kaya Tiwi play Oyugi Ogango, Bukokholo take on St Joseph’s Kitale, Buddo SS meet G.S Gahini, Hamdan Islamic face St Mary’s Kitende, Luzoto SS battle St Noah Girls, and Bugogwa play Vwawa SS.

Volleyball competition continues with Mwaluphamba facing Malava Boys, Mugogwa playing Gogo Mixed, Standard HS Zana meeting Tumbi Secondary, St Jerome SS Ndama facing Namugongo, LT St Luc playing Bukedea Comprehensive, and Cheptil Secondary facing St Philippe Nelly in the boys’ games.
Girls’ volleyball sees Kajunjumele take on Soweto Academy, St Mathias Mwitoti play Bukedea Comprehensive, Katikamu SDA meet Amus College, Tororo Girls face St Aloys SS, and Kwanthanze play E.S.B Kamonyi.
With multiple titles on the line, the third day of the FEASSSA Games promises high-intensity action across all venues in Kakamega, as schools aim to stamp their authority early in the competition.
